Task 7: Don’t Put All Your Eggs In One Basket

In this world of electronic capabilities, debit and credit cards, when the power goes out, so does our ability to access money. In 1994, my husband and I were in Northridge, California when the 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck. We were okay, but being hungry, we stopped at a small store for something to eat. There was lots of broken glass and no power, and a candy bar, usually only 60 cents at the time, cost me $5 because that was the smallest bill I had in my wallet.

DAY 7 Challenge:1-3, or 5 pts    Today we want you to tell us if you have cash on hand. Receive 1 point for reporting whether you have OVER or UNDER $100 in cash with your emergency supplies. Receive 1 point if it is in small bills ($10 bills or less).

Level Up: 5 pts Increase the amount of your emergency cash on hand. Commit to adding a specific amount weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly – whatever works best for you. It doesn’t have to be a large amount; whether 50 cents or $25, again, it’s what works for you. Check back in with us by the end of the month and let us know how you’ve done.
