What is 30 Days 30 Ways?

Featured

30 Days, 30 Ways is a disaster preparedness game that started in 2010 by the Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency (CRESA) in Vancouver, Washington. Each September, we post one simple readiness task each day.

Each day will have a different emergency preparedness theme and a daily winner will be selected from among the participants.

You can enter as many times as you would like.

Entries will be judged on their creativity, their relevance to the day’s theme and importance of the message.

Who Plays This Game?

Anyone is welcome to play.

Whether you have emergency services experience or not, we want people to consider each of these tasks and evaluate their own personal readiness.

We will all face crisis moments in our lives.

From encountering a car accident to learning of the loss of a loved one, these tasks will help you acquire some skills and be a little more ready to take on those difficult days.

When Does The Game Start?

Join us beginning September 1st!

That’s a Wrap!!

We just want to thank everyone who participated in this year’s 30 Days 30 Ways Challenge!  We had a great time bringing you the challenge and look forward to starting next years preparations.  Looking back at this year’s challenge, we once again had players in many states and even a few countries.  We were happy to see so many new players this year participating in the challenge. Close to 70% of those who took the challenge took if for the first time!!  We credit our returning players for this as you recruited your “allies” along the way.

We are busily working on finalizing points for everyone who participated in the challenge, and should be connecting with winners within the next few weeks.  At that time we will announce the winners.

This Challenge would not be nearly as successful if it was not for all of our Community Partners and Sponsors!  We would especially like to thank the Emergency Kit Cook Off, the Regional Water Consortium and 30 Days, 30 Ways UK, for once again partnering with us to bring a few special daily challenges.

As we finish up this year’s challenge, we again thank all that particpated, took, shared, lurked and watched this years challenge.  We will see you in 2018!!

2017 June Monthly Challenge

I can’t believe its already JUNE!!  … I apologize in being a little late in getting your monthly topic posted.    Memorial Day weekend kicks off a busy preparedness time for those of us at 30 Days, 30 Ways.  In our day to day roles it means working a lot more weekends and evenings as we try to share a message about the importance of being prepared.  It also means we are in high gear of putting together this years 30 Days challenge for the month of September.  With that being said, we want to take this month and ask you about subjects you wish we would spend more time discussing during our month long challenge in September.  Please share topics and how it could be a daily challenge.  If we use your challenge this year, you will be rewarded with an Amazon Gift Card also!

Junes’s Topic: Preparedness Cornucopia

2017 May Monthly Challenge

Its May… and time for our 5th Monthly Challenge for 2017.   We hope these monthly challenges allow you to look closer at your own preparedness and start a conversation with loved ones, family and friends in how to be better prepared.

May’s Topic: Hack It

You cannot go a day without almost without hearing a report of someone’s account getting hacked.  In fact according to some of the info-commercials out there, someones personal information is stolen about every 43 seconds!  Identity Theft and Cyber-security have become real concerns for every individual  More and more of us use the conveniences of online shopping, and bill pay, for everything from fitness, to grocery shopping.  Today most of all the transactions we do are with plastic which has made it easier for hackers to find ways to target our accounts.

CyberSecurity:

There are lots of recommendations out there how to keep your personal information safe.  From safeguarding your personal information on paper, online and your devices, to changing passwords and using different passwords for different accounts.  There are even services out there providing basically an insurance plan in monitoring to help keep your information safe.  This month we want you, without giving too many details, share information and practices you have found and use with others taking this challenge.

Examine Your Answers:

  • Give suggestions on services methods to keep passwords safe.
  • Share ideas on how to get set up with alerts on your accounts.
  • Share information regarding resources to help someone strengthen their online security.
  • Share how you identify scams and how you ensure you do not fall for them.
  • Give suggestions on how to keep information backed up safely.

Finally…. take this time to change your passwords!!

Included is a link from the Federal Trade Commission regarding Consumer Information to get you started!
