Finalists Announcement

The numbers have been crunched and the 2011 game was definitely a winner in our books!

Compared to 608 tasks completed in 2010, we had a record 1934 tasks completed this year. That’s an improvement of 300% over last year. We also know that many people didn’t official play, but talked about the tasks and that also is fun to hear.

Here is the list of finalists from the 2011 game:

  • Adam Mayer
  • Caroline Milligan
  • Drew
  • Karen Trumbull
  • Mr. Disaster
  • SeattleCSI
  • Tippy_R
  • Zoolights

I need each of these finalists to email cheryl.bledsoe@clark.wa.gov and let me know a couple of things….

  1. Your mailing address for your prize
  2. Whether or not you would be comfortable having your name announced in a press release that we develop to share the results of this game

Congratulations to all involved…..you have made the 2011 rendition of #30Days30Ways both fun and awesome for us and your communities.  We will plan to share some of the key highlights over the coming weeks because the answers, ideas and comments shared have been pretty amazing.

Good News & Bad News

Alright, so we initially promised to have the list of game finalists completed and announced by today; however, we have to admit a little technical weakness.

We are manually confirming each point and entering the data into a spreadsheet which is taking more time than we initially estimated.

There are some really interesting findings in the data that we have sifted through so far.  The good news so far is that we’ve confirmed 458 tasks in 7 days worth of game play.  Comparatively, we had 608 tasks completed last year…so, we are on track to exceed last year’s play.  Great job!

We are hopeful to make the finalist announcement on Monday, October 10th, and get prizes out the door quickly.

And, if there are any game developers who want to partner with us next year in automating the statistics tracking for this game, please feel free to email us at info@30days30ways.com.

Thank You for Playing

September 2011 has been an amazing month for the Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency. We have been actively working in Clark County, Washington, to spread awareness and focus on National Preparedness Month.

It has been our unique honor to participate in over 20 events in-person, host our annual Open House, support our Washington State Emergency Management Association’s Annual Conference and put together this preparedness game.

Each of us has a role to play in our local communities to be ready and be sure others are ready to face the challenges that emergencies pose to us all.  So, what is next? We will take the next few days to compile all of the statistics from this game.

On Wednesday, October 5th, we will share the names or nicknames of the finalists here on the website and ask the winners to share your contact information to claim your prizes.

Again, we thank you for participating, calling us with questions, talking about this game with your friends, families and loved ones!  We love how much our community supports this game.  Keep up the great work!

Here are some pre-game updates about what has been happening with this game, in preparation for the launch of Task #1 on Thursday morning:

  • Game Rules were posted on their own page here on the blog so that you can reference them as you need to throughout the month.
  • A fun “countdown timer” has been added to the right side of this website.  From now until the first task, it will show the remaining time until Task 1 is posted.  Afterwards, it will display how much time you have until all tasks must be completed.
  • We have had a number of prizes provided for this game which include gift certificates, books and preparedness kit items from emergency management program.  At this point, we expect to award prizes to at least the top 10 players of this game.
  • When we last played this game in 2010, we offered a fun tour of the Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency (CRESA), presuming that we would mostly have local players.  While we are willing to offer that again to local participants, we are also willing to offer an hour of Skype or teleconference discussion about a topic of your choosing relating to this game, social media or emergency management to the top winner.

If anyone has any last minute questions relating to this game, please feel free to post questions either here on the blog, Facebook Fan Page or on Twitter using #30Days30Ways or an @mention to @30Days_30Ways.

Coming September 1st….

This is an emergency preparedness game that was started by the Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency (CRESA) during National Preparedness Month in 2010.

We will again launch the game in September 2011 with all new tasks…..stay tuned for details about the game, how you can play and help us get the buzz going by sharing this your friends & family.

Let’s take Ready.Gov’s “Time to Remember, Time to Prepare” theme to the next level.  The best thing we can do to honor those who have lost their lives in disasters is to become more resilient ourselves.
